As a social enterprise, Garda Pangan offers a range of programs designed as a one stop food waste solution, taking a comprehensive approach across the food system.
On one side, Garda Pangan operates as a non-profit movement and food bank through programs such as food rescue, gleaning, campaigns, and policy advocacy. On the other, Garda Pangan generates its own income through various business lines related to food loss and waste, including food waste bioconversion using BSF, waste management services, research and consultancy, as well as educational programs and workshops.
This self generated income enables Garda Pangan to grow as an independent social and environmental organisation, while sustaining our mission and staying true to the ecological principles we believe in.
Garda Pangan was founded in June 2017 by three co founders from different backgrounds, united by a shared concern and vision around Indonesia’s growing food waste challenge.
Dedhy Trunoyudho and Indah Audivtia are a couple with backgrounds in the wedding catering business. Through their work, they frequently encountered the issue of surplus food being discarded each week. Meanwhile, Eva Bachtiar, an engineer and development consultant, had extensive experience working with farmers in eastern Indonesia and had long dreamed of establishing a food bank.
These shared concerns and vision became the driving force behind the founding of Garda Pangan.

Garda Pangan is officially registered as Yayasan Garda Pangan in March 2018:

Yayasan Garda Pangan has operated since June 2017 in social, environmental work. The foundation is not affiliated with any government agency, political group, or specific race or religion.
