Biofly Farm, Garda Pangan's food waste bioconversion program, was selected as one of the recipients of the 2024 Youth4Climate Initiative, an initiative by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Currently, Biofly Farm is capable of processing up to 800 kg of organic waste per day, ensuring that food waste and other organic waste generated by food businesses, including hotels, restaurants, cafés, industries, and households, are managed in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner without ending up in landfills.
On September 12–13, 2024, Garda Pangan was invited to attend the award ceremony as part of the One Planet Network Forum 2024 at the Museo do Amanhã in Brazil. The forum brought together participants from around the world, including leaders from various countries, international organizations, NGOs and private organizations, academics, researchers, as well as representatives of local communities and youth. As part of the effort to accelerate the implementation of the Global Strategy on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SDG 12), the forum featured a range of activities, including plenary sessions, thematic sessions, discussions, exhibitions, and an award ceremony to recognize youth-led initiatives addressing climate challenges.
During the forum, Garda Pangan was also invited to serve as a speaker in a session titled "Empowering Youth through Sustainable Skills and Decent Work for a Just Transition." Garda Pangan's achievement in representing Indonesia and sharing its experience on the international stage demonstrates that youth-led initiatives can create meaningful environmental impact while inspiring global action. In line with the theme of the One Planet Network Forum 2024, "Reducing Inequalities and Achieving Just Transitions for All through Sustainable Consumption and Production, including through Circular Economy," Garda Pangan hopes that its participation in this event will inspire more young people to recognize the importance of creating inclusive and sustainable change.
