Zero Waste to Landfill Workshop at Cita Hati School

Garda Pangan was invited by Cita Hati School to conduct a workshop titled "Zero Waste to Landfill" on February 4, 2026. Through this workshop, Garda Pangan introduced fifth-grade elementary school students to responsible food purchasing by encouraging meal planning before shopping and helping them understand the different types of waste found in their daily environment.

The workshop was conducted through both plenary and small-group sessions. During the plenary session, students learned about different types of waste and participated in identifying and classifying waste based on its category. In the group sessions, students worked on case studies prepared by the Garda Pangan team. They were asked to identify the problems, develop simple solutions, and share their ideas with their group members as part of the discussion.

The students' involvement extended beyond the classroom. Before the workshop, they were asked to bring food waste from home to be collected by the Garda Pangan team. The collected waste included vegetable and fruit scraps, leftover food, and other types of organic waste. It is hoped that this simple activity will encourage children to become more aware of sustainable food and organic waste management while helping reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfills.

The workshop successfully sparked the students' enthusiasm for learning about different types of waste, the environmental impacts of waste generation, and practical solutions to reduce waste, including food waste.
